INFORMATION FOR KINSHIP GUARDIANS OUTSIDE OF NEW MEXICO
More than 8 million children under the age of 18 are being raised by their grandparents, other family members, or close family friends. Unlike foster parents, these kin caregivers often receive little to no financial support or advice on how to navigate the challenges associated with raising children that are not your own. The Kinship Navigator Programs help fill that gap—providing caregivers with information, education, and referrals to a wide range of services.
The goal is to maximize the caregiver’s ability to provide safety and stability for the children they’ve welcomed into their home.
